BUSHKILL, PA (Summer 2014) - The Villas at Tree Tops and Fairway, and Fernwood Resort have joined with Shawnee Mountain to create a two day July 19 - 20 from noon to 7:00 pm on Saturday and noon to 6:00 pm on Sunday. Gina Bertucci, spokesperson for the Resort, said, "Shawnee Mountain has created a great lineup of festivals from early spring to late fall. Eat German foods, listen to Celtic music, feast on garlic, watch the rodeo, see lumberjacks compete – there is something for everyone. We have partnered with them to create packages that make it easy to take a mini getaway to the Pocono Mountains.”
Resort packages include two tickets to the festival and two nights of studio villa accommodations starting from $206 a night. Bertucci continues, "We recommend spending the day at the festival eating wursts, shopping for crafts, listening to music, dancing to polka music and generally enjoying the beauty of the Poconos in summer. Then return to the resort to relax, take a swim, go canoeing on the Delaware River, try our new aerial adventure ropes course and zip lines, take a horseback ride, slide down the mountain at Blue Lightning Tubing or head out to the links for a round of golf."
The Wurst Festival features German Oompah bands, polka bands, crafts and dancers plus all of the wursts, wieners, kielbasa, pierogies, ethnic vendors and crafted brews you can imagine. Fun for the kids includes "Ski" the Polish Magician, "Hot Dog" Dog Races, German "Brat" Man, Bavarian Juggling Shows, face painting, and a huge inflatable Bavarian Slide.
Fernwood and The Villas at Tree Tops and Fairway make up a 400 acre four season resort located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains minutes from Shawnee Mountain. In addition to indoor and outdoor pools, they added three new attractions Pocono Zip Racer, Pocono TreeVentures and Blue Lightning Tubing. It also offers golf on an 18 hole par 71 course, horseback riding, live entertainment, restaurants including Wintergreens Patio Grill with lakeside dining, a video game area, trips to nearby attractions including The Crossings Premium Outlets and Bushkill Falls, massage, gaming at Mt. Airy Casino, a fitness center, bumper boats, hiking in the nearby Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, canoeing on the Delaware River, paintball, and miniature golf.
Tickets to the Festival are $12.00 in advance or $15.00 at the gate for adults, children ages 2-12 are $10.00 and $12.00. Parking is free.
